In 2019, an astro-tourism trail was created in the Cambrian Mountains which link 6 new locations awarded 'dark sky' status.

The route covers 50 miles through the 3 counties of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Powys and is made up of a total of 9 sites. Cambrian Futures Project Manager, Dafydd Wyn Morgan said that the region is 'one of the best places in the world to view dark skies'.

Some people have seen The Milky Way, meteor showers and even the International Space Station when it's passing.

We're so fortunate to have 4 of the 9 sites here in Ceredigion and we hope you'll get the opportunity to gaze at the twinkling and perhaps even shooting stars.

The 4 dark sky sites in Ceredigion are:

  • Y Bwa / The Arch, Cwmystwyth, Ceredigion

  • Coed y Bont, Pontrhydfendigaid, Ceredigion

  • Hostel Dolgoch, Tregaron

  • Llanerchaeron, National Trust, Ceredigion
